Frequently Asked Questions

How often should you get your AC system serviced?

Every year before it gets hot.

How long does a heating and air system last?

It depends on how you take care of your system. If you don’t run it too low and have it serviced every year, your system should last 20 years.

How often should I change the filter?

Check it every 30 days and change it as needed.

What type of filter should I use? Is a pleated filter a good filter to use?

Some pleated filters are okay. If the new filter bows in the middle while the air is on, the filter is no good. Manufacturers recommend the old fiberglass filters for the best airflow and efficiency.

Is a heat pump a good system?

The heat pump is a very good system that is extremely efficient and reliable.

Should I turn my system off if it is not cooling or heating?

Yes, turn your system off and call Airman. If you continue to run it while it is not working, it could cause more problems and excess damage.

When should I have a new system installed?

When it is old and leaking refridgerant, or when you are getting a high power bill and it is not cooling like it should.

Why are there hot spots in my house?

A few things can cause this: You can create hot spots by keeping all the doors shut. The hot air in these rooms has no where to go with the door shut. Hot spots can also occur if a duct is not big enough for its particular area. The first you should do is call Airman and have your system tuned up. This helps especially if its been a while since your last service.
